Troubleshooting TikTok's FYP Issues: Problems with Loading, Refreshing or Malfunctioning

In recent weeks, some TikTok users have experienced issues with their For You Page (FYP) not updating or showing few to no new videos. This issue seems to have arisen following an update to TikTok's algorithm around August 2025, particularly affecting small content creators during this seasonal algorithm shift.

The FYP is the main feed that shows recommended videos based on user interests and interactions. If you're experiencing issues with your FYP, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

  1. Check your internet connection: TikTok requires a stable internet connection to function properly. Ensure you have a strong connection by checking your WiFi or mobile data.
  2. Force close and reopen the app: Sometimes, simply closing and reopening the app can help refresh the FYP.
  3. Update the TikTok app: An outdated app version can cause problems with the FYP loading and refreshing. Make sure your TikTok app is up-to-date.
  4. Clear the app data and cache: Corrupted app cache/data can impact the FYP's performance. On iPhone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, tap on TikTok, then tap Offload App. On Android, open Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > TikTok, tap Storage & cache > Clear Storage and Clear Cache buttons.
  5. Toggle your cellular data/WiFi: If you're on mobile data, try connecting to a WiFi network and reloading TikTok to see if it helps, or if already on WiFi, turn off WiFi and use cellular data instead.
  6. Reset your device's ad ID/identifier: This can help reset your TikTok FYP feed when stuck. On iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Advertising and toggle Reset Advertising Identifier. On Android, open Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID.
  7. Uninstall and reinstall TikTok: Completely uninstalling and reinstalling TikTok can give you a clean slate, removing any corrupt files that may be causing FYP issues.
  8. Check for server or API issues on TikTok's end: Sometimes, issues on TikTok's end can prevent feeds from loading properly.
  9. Consider a soft ban or shadow ban: In rare cases, a soft ban or shadow ban by TikTok can block the FYP from refreshing normally.

If no troubleshooting steps resolve your FYP issues, you can contact TikTok support directly in the app by opening TikTok, tapping on your profile icon, going to Settings and privacy, tapping "Report a problem", choosing the issue category relevant to your FYP problem, giving details on exactly what is happening, when it started, and steps you've tried, and submitting your report to send it to TikTok's support team.

Remember, the FYP is designed to show you content based on your interests and interactions. If you're not seeing the content you expect, it might be worth revisiting your account settings to ensure restricted access settings aren't causing the FYP to malfunction.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with your TikTok For You Page not refreshing. Happy creating!
